Saturday, 14 April 2007 – We went to a kids’ club. It was fantastic. I know that it was another God thing. There was a new person who showed up. He is 20, so he does not fit into the program. He came in with a guy who went to the club and still comes around now and then. This 20 year old man has two kids and living in his mother-in-law house. His father was from Africa and his mother is Ukrainian. He had a lot of pain, hurt, and anger in him. I spent most of my time with him. It was a challenge for me, because my Russian was not coming to me at the speed I would have liked. He is looking for something. He knows about God. He came up with different excuses why he did not need to make a decision for accepting Christ as Savior. I invited him to come to a teaching on Monday and let him know that we will be back next Saturday. Pray that God will continually speak to him in ways that he can understand.
Friday, 13 April 2007 – Feeding the poor was more difficult this week for the team I was on. We were able to find some people but I only made a connection with one of them. There were to old women who did not wish to talk, but was overly thankful for the meal.
Thursday, 12 April 2007 – Our time at the street kids’ center started in crisis. When we showed up there was only on kid there. We found out that a 15 year kid who comes to that center was found semi-conscious with a bloody nose. He had been sniffing glue and had a bad reaction to it. I was a good time for us to support the staff and the kids who started showing up. It was a good time of sharing our faith with them in the midst of crisis. I taught on feelings: why they are ok. It leads to a great time of sharing. Most of these kids only know the negative side of emotions. My focus was on that emotions are not good or bad. It all depends on how we act on our emotions.
Wednesday, 11 April 2007 – Our whole team went to a government ran AIDS center. We were schedule to teach some of the patients, but there was a miss understanding. We met with the social workers. I believe that this was a God thing. After talking with the workers, we understood that our time would be better spent with them in the future working directly with the staff. We found that they don’t have very strong relational skills for working with clients. With the help of our leaders, we will be training, sharing, and learning with the social workers.
Tuesday, 10 April 2007 – Today Sergey taught on forgiveness at a rehab center. It was a very powerful time. Each person was touched in some way through the teaching about where they are in the process of forgiving those who have hurt them. We had a time a ministry with one of the clients there. The guys who wanted to deal with some things from his past will have time next Tuesday with a one-on-one session with our leader. Eric is hoping to be part of this time to observe. We will see how that part goes.
