Time is running out

Hello everyone.
We are coming up on the end of our time in the States. We have 18 days left before we hop on the plane to head back to Ukraine. Our time here was very rewarding. We were able to reconnect with family and friends, workout some personal things like working on the question about Mairam’s health, and to plot some new courses. I believe one of the biggest joys for us was being able to spend more time with my parents. It was great to see our children grow to care for them. Today, Eliza was crying for her grandfather, because he had left from the play area where we were and she wanted him to come back. To me, with all the logistical madness connected for us to stay at my parents’ house paid off in that one moment, because one of our goals was for the grandchildren to get to know their grandparents.
As we look at our schedule for the next 2 ½ weeks, we do apologize to you who we planned to see outside of the greater LA area that we were not able to visit. We are hoping that our next trip this way will come around in a shorter time then it came away this last time (3 years). We will have to rethink how we travel, so that we can fit more people in.
I was looking at the goals we set out to accomplish for our time here and we succeeded in meeting most of them. Here they are for you to review:
1. We want to spend time with family and friends to catch up and to allow our kids to get to know them a little bit.
2. Have general physical work up done for on the whole family. Also to have lab work done on Mairam’s thyroid glands. She has three small growths and has been having hormone issues.
3. Share about what we have been doing and what God has laid on our hearts for the near future.
4. Become involved with ministry: prayer, teaching, support groups, counseling, etc.
5. Find more people who are willing to support our ministry. Moving back to Kiev means that our cost of living will triple on every level.
6. Borrow money to purchase a house and car.
7. Go to a Mark Laaser conference on addiction. Also to meet with him about going to Ukraine in 2007 to run a male conference on addiction in Kiev.
8. Find a Master correspondence program in counseling for Eric.
9. Find funding to start a small business.
1, 3, 4 and 7 we nailed. These were very important for relationship and ministry.
2 and 5 were started and almost completed. For example: we were not able to have our whole family get a general physical work up, but we were able to apply for MediCal insurance which will make it easier for us to see a doctor the next time we come back. Also we have found one more church and some more people to strengthen our support base, but we are still short about $500 in committed monthly support as of today.
6 and 9 got nowhere. God knows that they are close to our hearts, but he has not bought the vehicle around for us to be able to see them take form.
8 I have put on the backburners for now. I believe that there are some other things that need to take place before venturing out to earn a Masters
It is fun to see how God has directed our steps during our time in the US. He has allowed us to achieve most of the things that we set out to complete and helped us realize some others that we were ready to handle.
Thank you all for your love and support. We are truly grateful. We are able to do what we do, because of your support. We are thankful to God for each of you.
Prayer
* For a place to live. We will be looking for a new place to live when we get back to Ukraine. We are moving from Simferopol to Kiev. There is a lot of work that needs to take place in the first month before I start completion of my counseling classes.
* For more monthly support. We have two churches who have not told us how much they will be committing to supporting us for this year and there are people who are still thinking about what type of commitment they would like to do. We know that God is going to take care of us, but we do not know how he will cover our financial needs. Pray for added faith and peace in this area.
* For the rest of our time here in the States. We have our schedule full of activities up until the time we leave. Pray that we would be able to do what is needed and to let go of the rest, so that we don’t go crazy in the process. We need wisdom.
* For health and safety during traveling.
God bless you,
Eric, Mairam, Eliza, Eric II
